INTRODUCTION

Competency Management may seem overwhelming and tedious. This need not be the case. Today, there are several options to profile competencies in a seamless way and yet make it highly relevant for your organisation. This three day workshop aims to help practitioners gain the skills necessary to identify the appropriate methods and develop competency profiles. Participants will learn how to use existing databases and templates and relate their needs to existing best practices.

They will learn how to develop both behavioural and functional competencies. The various methods of gathering data to make the competency profile relevant and the appropriate ways to set standards is important for getting the buy in from the stakeholders. The stakeholders need to be involved in validating the competency profile for success. The final task of mapping the competencies to either a job or roles (in matrix organisations) is also a critical one.

LEARNING APPROACH

Learning will take place through small group exercises. Participants will learn through a hands on approach. Participants will learn to use templates and be able to refer to best practices. They will be able to share the profiles developed and receive quick critiques from fellow participants and the facilitator.
