It is about two weeks since the New Year started. Hope you still remember and are pursuing your goals. Three things of positive significance for us: First, we had the joy of adding close to 120 professional trainers from around the world making us truly a global company. It is certainly nice to have 200 professional staff members – from trainers, consultants to software programmers. The sustainable growth and trust that the company has gained from customers to deliver huge project augurs well for the future. Second, we are excited to see the surge of interest in Asia HRD Congress 2011. Third, we had a new young management team taking over the reins of daily operations leaving me and my colleague Dr Nat with lots of free time to do what we desire to do. While Dr Nat has gone away for two months to spend some time meditating, I am here in Kuala Lumpur writing my next book. The e news for this month:
Do it bit by bit Dr Tony Alessandra, an assessment expert, talks about doing things bit by bit, using the concept of chunking. Two weeks into the New Year when most of us are struggling with competing priorities, he cites the ideas of several authors. The way to begin is to break large tasks into smaller and doable tasks. His 180 page book was written over 90 days: 2 pages a day. Looks easy but requires a much disciplined approach. He suggests the use of 4 D’s to manage tasks: Drop it, delegate it, Delay it, Do it. He has also several assessment tools to check out your preferences and personality styles. For a free assessment, email annnei@smrhrgroup.com Super Richness While I was going through the World Wide Web, I found an interesting article of Russell Simmons, godfather of hip-hop and a multi millionaire. In his book Super Rich: a Guide to Having it All, he describes how super richness can be achieved. The top principles as described by him: 1. Give Your Talents Until They Can’t Live Without It2. Relentlessly Pursue Your Goals without Appearing Needy 3. If You Don’t Love it, Leave it Alone 4. Let Go of the Results – perform the action well 5. Get Open A new decade in learning Generation Y has made a huge impact on the way technology has evolved over the last decade. My teenage sons and some of our Gen Y staff do not have any paper based note books, they have I pads that they use for note taking. They do not seem to have any barriers to learning on line. Historically, leaders emerged from team sports such as the captain of the soccer team, now young people are led by virtual leaders when playing on line games. An article calls upon L&D professionals to harness this ability for young people to learn using technology so readily, when developing old fashioned skills like leadership and communication, and ensure transfer of learning to the workplace.Visit www.trainingpressreleases.com/newsstory.asp Asia HRDCongress 2011 International gurus will present powerful sessions to address the theme Creating Value through People Development: Strategic HRD in shaping organisational futures, the ultimate aim is to shape and safeguard organisational futures with value creation.
